After
your hair transplant surgery, one of the first things you might want to do is
play around with a new hairstyle or look. While your excitement is reasonable
for the sake of your hair and scalp, your surgeon will typically recommend
waiting for a few weeks before you break out the styling products. Give the
area time to heal before exposing it to heat styling or hair products.
Your new hair might take some getting used to.
Since it will be several months before the new hair is evident, styling will
initially focus on the hair you already have. As the hair grows in, you might
find that you need to change the style of your hair slightly to accommodate the
new growth.
You can start using hair spray, gel or mousse to
hold your style in place about two weeks after the surgery. Ask your doctor
when it will be safe to start using styling products. Mousse can be especially
helpful after a hair transplant, as it is used to create volume and to make
your hair look fuller.
